The classical descriptions such as (off the beaten track) or (away from the ((whatever)) crowd) still apply to these apartments' location.
The beach (pebbled & sand) and the turquoise Mediterranean Sea is only a stone's throw away, separated from the apartments by the main road connecting to the Antalya airport to the east, and the Dalaman airport to the west. So although secluded, you are by no means isolated. The town centre and the Friday Market place are by the St. Nicholas' Church, i.e. only 4 Km from the apartments. There is a market on the premises for your daily needs, and a restaurant.. There are 3 swimming pools of different sizes and depths as well as a kid's pool. Each of the 5 blocks has its own lift.

The apartments come in three sizes;
55 square meter studios consisting of 1 bedroom, 1 living room cum open plan kitchenette, WC/Shower and a balcony.
85 square meter apartments have 2 bedrooms, 1 larger living room, a separate kitchen, a balcony, WC/Shower.
120 sqm apartments have 3 bedrooms, a large living room, and separate kitchen, 1 WC plus another WC/Shower, with either 2 or 3 balconies.
All of the apartments have sea view and also overlook the swimming pool(s).
Demre (Kale) is a small town with a population varying from 10.000 to 20.000 from winter to summer. Situated between the hills and the sea-shore, there are green houses all over Demre and vegetables and fruits are in abundance. Fishing is good also for those who have a yen for it.

On site there are children play-grounds and 2 basketball courts, private open parking area.

The construction was completed in mid 2005, so the complex is barely Two years old. Some of the apartments of various sizes can also be rented without furniture for long periods such as for a year or longer. The idea behind this is that there may be retired people wishing to settle in this region of Turkey, with an option to buy an apartment in the future. Such people can either bring over their own furniture, or at least some of which they do not wish to part with for sentimental or other reasons (their antiquity being one of such reasons)and buy locally whatever they are lacking, since shipping furniture from overseas may turn out to be more expensive than buying them locally in Turkey.

A Town with Three Names
Demre was once called Kale, meaning a fortress in Turkish, and its ancient name is Myra. In some of the old maps and websites on the internet, it is still mentioned as Kale, which should be corrected in time.

DEMRE-MYRA-KALE

Why does a place, a town have more than one name? This is explained at resources such as Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myra and other related sites in accordance with available historical facts and hearsay.
Also available on the internet are the memoirs of travellers, most of which date back to quite a few years, and do not depict Demre as it is in the year 2007.

What interests me in our present day is whether Demre is to be the “New Destination” of holiday makers in 2007. Certain “specialist” operators have included holiday apartments and villas in Demre in their 2007 catalogues and websites. Their reasons are obvious. Demre is located at the Western extension of Antalya, therefore easily accessed via Antalya Airport (also from Dalaman Airport with a half an hour's bus ride difference), and is a Mediterranean coastal town. This means warm sunny days for over 300 days a year. Mild winters of Demre are almost equal to the springs and/or Summers of Northern European seasons. This explains why Demre houses greenhouses in abundance, producing tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers of several kinds and other vegetables and fruits during the winter months.

Until recently, Demre was a same-day-excursion destination, being visited by 30 to 40 busloads of tourists from nearby resort areas due to the presence of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus, Father Christmas) Church in its centre, and Myra, some 3 Km away from the Church, not to mention its river mouth from where boat trips are organized to Kekova. According to newspaper articles, the number of such daily visitors varies between 300.000 and 450.000 per year.
But in the coming years, although the same-day excursions shall continue, the picture will change as 4 and 5 Star hotels are to be built along the town's 14 Km long beaches, as well as other facilities to make this town an attractive holiday resort for weekly or longer overnighting stays.
However, pioneers have already built Holiday Apartments and Villas in Demre region, fully furnished, to accommodate those discerning holiday makers who would like to benefit from the not-yet-spoiled “far from the ... crowd” or “off the beaten track” characteristics of Demre.

Therefore, some specialist operators promoting Holiday Apartments-Houses and Villas have included Demre in their 2007 catalogues & websites to give the chance to those discerning holiday makers to enjoy the still unspoilt beauties of Demre and its surrounding region before the gold-rush of star-full hotels infest and concrete up the sea fronts.

The good news is that such Holiday Apartments and Villas in Demre are not many in numbers, and the discerning holiday makers still have a couple of years or more to enjoy the natural beauties of Demre, as well as taking in the historical sites in and around the region, before it becomes too late and miss such a unique chance.

Demre, also known as Kale or the ancient Myra, is a new destination by inclusion in the ferienhauser & ferienwohnungen catalogues of the specialists for the 2007 programmes and we hope that holiday makers will not miss out on this chance.

A New Destination

Individual holiday makers,as well as the tour operators/travel agencies will eventually make Demre into a new Holiday resort destination. Those who are quick about it shall enjoy Demre before its natural beauties are spoiled.
Nearby Demre, there are slightly sulfurous mineral water springs. This potable mineral water helps digestion and excretion functions. It is constantly at 15 degrees Celsius and heals psoriasis and other skin disorders.
