To reduce heat gain or loss through windows, two or more lites can be sealed together to form insulating glass. Most sealed units consist of two lites separated by an air or gas space and hermetically sealed. The lites are held apart by a spacer around the perimeter. The spacer contains an absorbent material, called desiccant, which keeps the air or the gas sealed inside the unit free from visible moisture. The entire perimeter of the insulating glass is sealed with two sealants.
