For normal automatic venting, open bonnet for a slow release of air. A fast release o-f the air will allow dirt or scale in the water to plug the operating mechanism. The small hole in the side of the cap allows

air to escape, then the floater rises and the hole closed. If tighten bonnet, stop discharging. Usually, the bonnet should

be open. Also can be matched with shut-off valve to enable easy examine and repair.
