About glass:

Double Glazing(hollow glass):

Double Glazing is known within the industry as Insulating Glass Units( IGU’S). Two or more panels of glass are bonded to a perimeter spacer, either metal or

thermoplastic spacer (TPS), with either air or argon gas filling using in the space between the glass panel.

Their primary benefit is insulation and solar control.

Advantages:

Double glazing offers some sound dampening qualities but the performance is critically

dependent on the widthof the airspace. More important are its thermal advantages.

In the summer double glazing reduces heat and UV entry while in winter it provides

good light levels and reduces outward heat loss.

Laminated Glass:

Comprised of two or more layers of float glass permanently bonded together with an interlayer

of resin. If broken, the interlayer is designed to hold the glass together.

Advantages:

1 Reduces the risk of injury if a person accidentally crashed into it;

2 In case of breakage, the glass remains attached to the polyvinyl butiralovoy (PVB) film.

Toughened Glass(Tempered Glass):

Toughened glass is physically and thermally stronger than regular glass. The greater contraction

of the inner layer during manufacturing induces compressive stresses in the surface of the glass

balanced by tensile stresses in the body of the glass.

Advantages:

1 Breaking into small pieces, it protects a person from injuries with sharp fragments of glass;

2 Eliminates the formation of thermal shock inside the windows-strong endurance to

temperature variations;

3 Greater resistance to stress than ordinary glass;

Reflective Glass:

This looks rather like mirror glass when viewed from the outside, the result of a metallic coating

added during manufacture. Reflective glass is particularly effective in cutting down solar heat gain.

Low-E Glass:

Low emissivity glass will allow the sun’s heat and light to pass through the glass into the

building but it will prevent the heat from leaving the room. This considerably reduces heat loss

and therefore improves the comfort level in your home. It also helps in summer by reducing

solar heat gain.

Tinted Glass:

Apart from its aesthetic appearance, tinted glass is mainly intended to reduce solar heat gain

and glare. It provides good heat and UV protection without having the mirror-like appearance of reflective glass.
