AAC or Autoclaved Aerated Concrete was invented in 1923 by Swedish Inventor Johan Axel Eriksson as a cost effective and eco-friendly substitute of red clay bricks as walling material. AAC has been in production for more than 90 years, but it has recently exploded in demand over the last couple of decades globally, particularly in Europe due to increased awareness of its excellent properties including light-weight yet high load bearing capacity, excellent thermal and sound insulation properties, low cost of construction and overall energy efficient manufacturing and installation.

AAC Blocks contain 80% Air and therefore weigh only 1/3rd of a clay Brick. It is formed as a reaction of aluminum metal with blended proportion of lime, cement, gypsum & fly Ash. The hydrogen gas escapes from the reaction giving it a strong honey-comb structure. It is further cured in an autoclave under high pressure steam to give it desired strength. The production process has to be very carefully monitored to insure a controlled consistency in the proportions and timing of all ingredients that are used in each batch so that the output is consistent.

AAC has already successfully been used in Europe since early last century and is now among the most commonly used wall building materials in Europe with rapidly growing market shares in many countries, especially in Asia. According to some estimates, AAC accounts for more than 40% of all construction in UK and 60% of all construction in Germany.

In India, the demand for these blocks has risen by 10 fold in the last 5 years. And rightfully so, given that it is touted as the most innovative building material of the century.

AAC is the material of choice for building applications across residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural buildings, hotels, schools and hospitals, etc. They can withstand all weather conditions and can be used for all walls, external or internal, loadbearing or non-loadbearing, basement walls, infill walls, framed structures, fire break walls, etc.
